Maryhill TRA

Maryhill Transformational Regeneration Area

Maryhill is one of eight areas in Glasgow identified for regeneration that will focus on building a mix of affordable houses, both to rent and to buy, and on creating neighbourhoods that are vibrant, popular and sustainable.

In 2010, Scottish Government, Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) launched a major initiative to kick start regeneration in Glasgow communities. These Transformational Regeneration Areas (TRAs) will focus on building a mix of affordable houses, as well as creating training and job opportunities for local people.

The initiative is a partnership between the Scottish Government, the City Council and GHA and will work with other social landlords. Maryhill Housing Association is already on site with 125 new social rented houses in 'The Valley' area of Maryhill, having begun work in July 2011.

Further phases will follow to deliver private sector housing when financial viability can be achieved.

In the meantime the Maryhill TRA Delivery Group, led by Lord Provost Robert Winter, oversees the project, provides communication with the local community and stakeholders and ensures that local area plans and proposals by the Council, the Canal Regeneration Partnership and others, link into and support delivery of the TRA.
