CEFT is being developed to assist managers, planners and
developers as well as the general public in their understanding of
the existence and state of some of the undervalued resources along
the canal.
The tool will include information on:
- Cultural Heritage (e.g. archaeological, industrial, historical
features
- Habitats/Biodiversity (e.g. bats, badgers, important nodes in
the wildlife corridor)
- Open/Greenspace and Access and Signage (e.g. parkland,
woodland, connectivity, paths), and
- Landscape Character (e.g. views, setting).
CEFT will make it possible to present an overall impression of
the condition of particular sites, showing how future development
and management might have an impact.
The approach is to bring together results attained from the
different disciplines into one platform (GIS based), making it much
easier for a wide range of people to make use of the
information.
