Making Waves

We’ve had great fun working with our friends at Impact Arts who have helped us engage, inform and have fun with well over 1,000 people, ranging from school children, parents, youth groups and the elderly. Here’s some examples of the type of stuff that goes on;

Regeneration Days;

A team of artists worked with Primary 4-7 pupils from 12 schools on various themes such as the ‘environment’, ‘buildings’, ‘maps’, ‘how we live’ and ‘people in our community’. These full day activities encouraged the children to think about how they view the area they live in and what sort of a future they wish to see for the canal.

Drawing the City;

Working with an artist, small groups of school children were given the opportunity to experience their city from a unique perspective. Speirs Locks provided a spectacular vantage point for the city, where the children took photographs of the skyline and then created drawings of how they think this will change over the coming years.

Pulse

The young people involved in this 6 week project created a lighting design that is now permanently projected onto the old Whitehouse Bar on Maryhill Road. The lights are accompanied by an innovative musical score. In producing the lights and music, Pulse allowed young people from the area to experience new places, sounds and sights. It has also helped us signal that the area hasn’t been forgotten and that change will be taking place.
